Public Works is responsible for the design, construction, operation and maintenance of city-owned facilities, properties, streets, traffic, sanitary and storm sewers, wastewater treatment and water supply and quality.

The EPA's Consumer Confidence Rule requires public water suppliers that serve the same people year round (community water systems) to provide consumer confidence reports (CCR) to their customers. These reports are also known as annual water quality reports or drinking water quality reports. The CCR summarizes information regarding sources used, any detected contaminants, compliance and educational information.

Engineering
The Division of Engineering is responsible for design and construction of most major City infrastructure projects and capital improvements and provides technical assistance to other departments and outside agencies. The City Engineer approves all right-of-way permits and temporary encroachments for projects throughout the city.

Streets & Utilities
The Division of Streets and Utilities provides local residents and industry with essential day-to-day services. The division oversees operation and maintenance of facilities, properties and streets, as well as traffic and water distribution and sewer collection systems.

The division also supports other departments in response to emergency situations like flooding, inclement weather and main breaks, and manages seasonal programs for city-wide clean-up, snow removal and leaf collection.

Ohio Utilities Protection Service (OUPS)
The Ohio Revised Code requires contact be made with the Ohio Utilities Protection Service at least 48 hours, but no more than 10 working days, (excluding weekends and legal holidays) before beginning any digging project. Call 8-1-1 or 1.800.362.2764.
