The Department of Public Works is currently facilitating the following construction work and services throughout the city:
Pierce Street Reconstruction Project, as the contractor continues work on Phase 1 of the project on Pierce Street from Sherman to Campbell Streets, all residents in this area will be required to park on the street west of Thomas Street intersection. Paving between Sherman and Campbell Streets will wrap up this week, weather permitting. Concrete removal between Sherman and Thomas will also continues this week, weather permitting.
West Side Utility & Connectivity Project, the City has signed into contract with Speer Bros. to perform work on this project and they will start having deliveries of materials and equipment to their laydown area located on the south side of Venice Road. Signage is posted to alert traffic of trucks entering and exiting this site. Construction work started Monday, April 27th involving waterline and storm sewer work at the Edgewater Avenue and Venice Road intersection. Phase 1 of the Maintenance of Traffic Plan will be in place. Traffic will be maintained with traffic signage and orange traffic barrels, but expect delays as the contractor works through the intersection and the north side of Venice Road and along the west side of Edgewater Drive.
On Wednesday, May 20, 2020, the intersection of Wayne and Neil streets will transition to a four-way stop. In preparation for the traffic pattern change, advanced warning signs have been posted to give motorists early notice about the new four-way stop. The intersection is currently a two-way stop for motorists traveling on Neil Street.
